All Aboard

on

We had to wait for the ferry because our coach was late getting to Dover but the sun was out the sky was clear & crystal blue and there is plenty to see in the port.  Also it meant I was putting off going to sea ha!

No problem getting on the boat (?ship) just had to be careful we didn’t get trampled by a coach load of teenagers all running and jumping up the stairs or trying to get in the lift 50 at a time.  Straight out on to the deck – less nauseous food smell and plenty of fresh air.  The captain spoke to us over the tannoy and assured us ‘the sea was calm but just in case here’s what to do if you need the lifeboat’.  Reassuring indeed .

Kept myself busy taking photographs and then my husband decided he wanted food uh oh. Never noticed the pitch of the boat until we went inside. Thought I’d better give the food a miss -‘ I’ll check out the duty free’.

How expensive is duty free?  and such random things to buy.  Why would you buy a Union Jack watering can or a bunch of silk tulips?  Are they an essential for a trip to Europe?  But you know what, it passed a good 20 minutes and by this time we were getting ready to glide into Calais.  Back on deck for more photographs……… and after battling again with the rampaging teens we were back on the coach and off…..

So my  magical antidote to cross channel sickness is gusty air,sea spray and marvelling at the infathomable tat in the gift shop. Sorted.
